Math Reno's Way

We have been busy finishing up our 5 senses unit, Reno always loves her activity of choice. I don't have trays, but I have bins... so I guess they are bin activities. This one she loves is BINGO addtion and subtraction. She LOVES, LOVES this one. Along with adding and taking away cards you get to be silly and stand up spin around and quack like a duck... too fun...

Alice also loves her stackable cups. She usually sort her teddy bears in them, but she she has take to gettinghtem to nest back inside each other. She still has trouble with some of them...but she wouldnt even attempt this task a couple of months ago... so we are making progress!

Our 5 Senses Project

Sorry for the delay in blogging our tot school. We are having computer issues... that is an understatement... but we will go with it...

We have been very busy with Tot School at Reno's Way. In September we have been studyig our 5 Senses.

We start the day off with a song (i got from the internet) called 5 Senses.
It is sung to Where is Thumbkin?.

5 Senses, 5 senses
there are 5, there are 5
hearing and seeing,
smelling, tasting, touching
there are 5, there are 5.
(point to the body parts are you sing the sense)

Then we so a page in our Sensory Book.

Reno has learned the clouds feel soft

Fish are spraklely

Starfish are bumpy

We are still exploring ducks, stars, frog's tongue, and more! Will be adding those soon!

Triangle

Alice loves triangles... so I thought that would be a great shape for us to study.

She had fun making a GIANT triangle and jumping in it, laying in it, and spinning around inside of it.

She also learned that a triangle has 3 sides. She can identify a triangle and we are practicing tracing a triangle.

C is for Caterpillar

Alice wanted to learn about the letter "C". So to help her we made caterpillars! It was a great quick art project and she learned a lot! Besides learning about the letter "C" we counted all the caterpillars legs, antennas, and eyes! Look how proud!

Why Reno

Alice Mae is my 2.5 year old little darling! She is the younger sister to K girl. We have called Alice Reno for so long now and we do it everywhere. We get a lot of "why Reno". The answer is Alice was such a HUGE baby when she was born...9lbs 5oz. When she was born she was all scrunched up, especially her face. So we tagged her with scrunch-a-reno. Which we have shortened to Reno. She even calls herself that now. It is too funny!

So back to Why Tot School. I taught for a year in my own classroom before I became a mommy. I have always known that I want to get back into the classroom one day. I love teaching. I can't help but teach. So when we got this great house with this great basement, I had no excuse but to pull out my teacher stuff and USE IT! With K girl in Kindergarten now, I will have LOTS of one on one time with Reno. I found this GREAT web site that I will refernce A LOT and link my lessons too as well... it is called http://1plus1plus1equals1.blogspot.com/search/label/Tot%20School

Each week I will post to this blog all of Reno's success with Tot School. I will also post to The Tot school web site. I will be "stealing" a lot of ideas from other places, so feel free to "steal" from me too!
